Organizations
The following orgnanizations operate on a national or international basis.
- International Space Elevator Consortium (ISEC) - ISEC promotes the development, construction and operation of a space elevator as a revolutionary and efficient way to space for all humanity.
- EuroSpaceward - Organizers of the European Space Elevator & CNT Tether Design Conference and workshops. They will hold their second conference in Luxemburg on December 6th and 7th.
- Japan Space Elevator Alliance (JSEA) - Japan seems to be gaining momentum as one of the central hubs for development of the Space Elevator. They will be holding their first conference on November 15th and 16th in Tokyo.
- Spaceward Foundation - Is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering space science and technology in education and in the public mindshare with a focus on the Space Elevator. Organizers of the Spaceward Games including the NASA sponsored Tether and Climber challenges. The next Spaceward games with prize money up to $2,000,000 is tentativelty scheduled for February 2009.
Companies
There are a few efforts underway to build the core technologies required to make a space elevator. Some of these technologies include building commercial grade carbon nanotubes which has commercial value well beyond the boundaries of the space elevator efforts. Some companies are still in the stealth mode while others are publicly known.
